On Tuesday 21st October the college’s Learning Resource Centre hosted the first of this year’s West Sussex Book Awards cluster meetings, involving about sixty students from FCC and its feeder primary schools.
The students spent a fantastic day debating and working on the nine books shortlisted for the award, and created some brilliant life-sized character designs and alternative book covers.

The Book Awards project is a great opportunity for both year 6 and year 7 students to meet like-minded people and forge new friendships. We encourage team work and discussion during the cluster meetings, and each group has to present their work to the larger audience.
Our second meeting will be held in November when we are looking forward to a visit by one of the authors – Alex Milway – to our school.
