8:30 Thursday the 12th June saw the beginning of the year 9 enterprise, when all the students
arranged themselves in the hall to listen to the plan for the school day. Bernadette from the
Natwest back and Mr Treharne went through the challenge for the day.

The challenge was for the students to work in groups of 6 to put together a tender as a catering
company for a party for 100 people. Each group was to spilt themselves up into a finance manager,
project manager, catering manager and publicity. They then spent the morning working together
ready for their presentation and pitch in the afternoon.

The year group took over the Voc Block and some of the English rooms and turned them into the
boardrooms and brainstorming rooms. Throughout the day all the groups were working together and
building on their individual experiences and strengths. Each member of staff commented on how
committed the students were to the project.

When the afternoon came each group had justified their finance plan to their bank managers and
were ready for the big pitch. Sadly not a Sir Alan Sugar in sight only a group of competitive
tutors. Every tutor were amazed by the cooperation and team work that they witnessed during the
presentations, but sadly only 8 groups could go through to the final.

Once the decision had been made the students went through to the final in the hall where they had
to convince the judges there’s was the best. Once the year group had cleaned up they joined the
finalists in the hall. Each of the three judges went round to all the groups to listen to their
ideas.

After much debate the judges picked ‘Tastebuds’ as the winner. Congratulations to Oliver Murphy,
Ben Morris, Megan Hamilton, Brooke Elias, Lee Morgan and Kerry Greaves.

A big thank you has to go out to all the fantastic work that the students put into the day and
obviously we couldn’t have done it without the staff in the Voc Block and the amazing tutors.
Thank you for a lovely enterprise experience.
