2010 - Record Breaking Exam Results
Following our best ever A level results this summer, students in year 11 also achieved record breaking results at GCSE.
The students did incredibly well with 72% gaining 5+ A* - Cs (up from 53% last year) and 58% gaining 5+ A* - C GCSEs including English & maths (up from 43% last year). The results are significantly higher than the challenging target set by the Local Authority and a huge leap from 2009.
Mark Anstiss, Headteacher, is delighted. ‘These exam results are fantastic. School improvement is often a slow and difficult process and so to increase our 5+ A* - C including English & maths by 15% in one year is a tremendous achievement. The students must be congratulated for their effort, determination and commitment in gaining these best ever results. Felpham benefits from an outstanding staff team and it is clear that their hard work and support with this year group has been tremendously effective.’
As Deputy Headteacher, Pat Ashman has been the architect of many of the successful strategies used to raise standards. She too is full of praise for the students, their parents and staff. ‘These results are the culmination of a number of years of hard work. The strong partnerships created between students, staff and parents have led to huge improvements at the college leading to today’s outstanding results.’
Julie Grindel, Assistant Headteacher, is pleased with the range of improvement across the college. ‘These results show that Felpham has very strong foundations in the core subjects of English and maths. But in addition significant improvement has been made in nearly all subjects and this bodes well for the future.’
