  • Recommended Reads Book Sponsorship

    date posted: 21/04/21

A massive thank you to GRN Locksmiths, Class Technology Solutions, The Cheeky Panda and FCC Governors who have so far sponsored us for our Recommended Reads Book Sponsorship.

Full details below - let us know if you would like to get involved!

    Book Sponsorship

At FCC we take reading very seriously. We regard simple ‘reading for pleasure’ as the gateway to success in school and elsewhere and do everything we can to foster a reading culture among our students.

We know that many of our school community already have an in-built love of literature. But we know too that among our students are some ‘reluctant readers’ who we want to inspire.

To this end we have devised a library of Recommended Reads, tailored for specific ages and abilities, which we would like all our students to enjoy before they leave us in year 11 or 13. We have made room in the teaching timetable for tutors to read these stories for 2 to 3 hours a week to their classes and will supply class sets of each book for those students who are hooked to take home.

Inevitably, this has involved some expense and we are seeking commercial sponsorship to help with the acquisition. A class set of 25 books will cost somewhere between £100 and £200, and we are inviting local companies to finance the purchase of one or more of these sets. In return for their generosity we would prominently sticker each book with the sponsor’s name. We very much hope that the positive associations built up in the student’s mind with the pleasure derived from the story will be of long-lasting impact and of benefit to participating companies in the future.

If you are part of a local business and would like to get involved with this new initiative, please contact us!

  • Get Ready for Back to School! - Monday 8th March 12-2pm

    date posted: 03/03/21

Following the success of our second-hand uniform events, and with students probably having growth spurts lockdown!, we are pleased to be able to offer parents/carers another opportunity to source any uniform they might need. Also available to collect will be stationery to get students ready for back to school and sanitary products.

On Monday 8th March, between 12-2pm, we will have an area set up outside of Blake Building (our new building) with all the uniform we have available - blazers, shirts, blouses, trousers, skirts and lots of PE kit. Everything is good quality and has been washed. Also available will be stationery (exercise books, plain paper, maths books, stationery equipment packs, pritt sticks etc) and sanitary products.

There is no cost for any items, we just ask that you take only what you need; please note that we cannot reserve items. If people wish, they can leave a small donation that will go towards the cost of cleaning future uniform donations and future stationery supplies.

Please remember your face covering for this event. Everyone will be asked to saniitise before touching any items and social distancing will be required.

We hope you find this service useful at this difficult time.

  • Donation of laptops

    date posted: 11/01/21

Dear Parents and friends of FCC

As you are aware, we have currently moved to a model of remote teaching and learning via Microsoft Teams platform.

We are endeavouring to ensure that all students have access to a laptop so that they can participate in live lessons and online learning.

In conjunction with the laptops from the Government, we would be very grateful for any donations of laptops from our school community that we can recondition and loan out to students during lockdown.

If you have an old unused laptop in your house that you would be willing to donate, please could you contact us and we would be very happy to receive it. Our reception is open each day for a drop off.

If you have any further questions regarding this, please contact Kate Bloomfield (Assistant Headteacher) at kbloomfield@felpham.org.uk
