Careers Information, Advice & Guidance

At Felpham Community College our aim is to ensure that every student receives a comprehensive careers education to assist them to develop employability skills and knowledge of available pathways to enable them to make informed decisions at key stages in their education.

In January 2018 the Department of Education issued a new Careers Strategy which outlined the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks that schools should meet by the end of 2020.  The Benchmarks are as follows:-

  • Benchmark 1 – A stable careers programme
  • Benchmark 2 – Learning from career and labour market information
  • Benchmark 3 – Addressing the needs of each student
  • Benchmark 4 – Linking curriculum learning to careers
  • Benchmark 5 – Encounters with employers and employees
  • Benchmark 6 – Experience of workplaces
  • Benchmark 7 – Encounters with further and higher education
  • Benchmark 8 – Personal Guidance

Currently the majority of the requirements are being met and we continue to work towards achieving all Benchmarks.

We review our whole school careers programme in July every year.
