Key Stage 3 

At Key Stage 3 students have three lessons of Art each fortnight and are taught in tutor groups. Photography is not taught until Key Stage 4. 

The main programmes of study in each year of Key Stage 3 are summarised as follows with further details contained in schemes of work: 

Year 7 

  • Line, tone and texture

Year 9 

  • Architecture 
  • Natural/Mechanical 

Creative and talented students are encouraged to undertake extended classwork and homework projects. A new art club for years seven and eight is organised and run by sixth form students. There are also half-termly workshops run by teaching staff that give students the opportunity to experience art forms and techniques that aren’t taught in mainstream class work.
