Students were celebrating as they received their GCSE results at Felpham Community College with record numbers gaining the top grades of 8 and 9.
Overall attainment in the English Language GCSE was 73% graded 4-9, English Literature was 77% graded 4-9 and in maths GCSE was 71% graded 4-9.
These results ensure that many students can now move onto their chosen post-16 pathway. The year 11s, ably supported by their specialist teachers and the school governors, have been rewarded for their hard work and commitment over the past two years.
A large proportion of the year 11 students exceeded expectations and there were a number of exceptional results:
Millie Towse: 7 grade 9s, 1 grade 8s, 1 Distinction
Poppie Bright: 6 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s, 1 grade 7
Emma Barrasford: 5 grade 9s, 3 grade 8s, 1 grade 7

Mark Anstiss, Headteacher, commented, ‘We are extremely pleased with all of our students’ achievements today. Obtaining these results, after a disrupted two years, takes hard work, commitment and resilience. It’s inevitably a stressful time for students and we are very proud with how they have coped.
These great results provide our Year 11s with an opportunity to now move on to Felpham 6th Form and provide a firm foundation for work or university in the future. Staff and students have worked incredibly hard. I would also like to thank our parents and the school governors for their support and commitment to our school.’
If you are interested in joining Felpham 6th Form from this September please see the school website for more details and contact the school to arrange a meeting.
