Year 11

Autumn Term

  • Mock interview day
  • Careers Guidance Interviews – one to one or small group.

Careers Guidance Interviews
Our Year 11 students benefit from personalised careers guidance provided by our external Careers Advisor, Mel Ponteresso. These one-to-one interviews help students explore their next steps — whether that’s sixth form, college, or an apprenticeship.
The advice is tailored to each student’s interests and aspirations, offering support and clarity as they prepare for the next stage of their education journey. It’s a valuable opportunity to ask questions, gain insight, and feel more confident about the future.

Xello is the platform our students use to build their CVs in preparation for Mock Interview Day. By regularly updating their profiles throughout each school year, students gradually develop a strong and personalised CV.

The more information students add early on—such as skills, interests, achievements, and experiences—the more comprehensive and effective their final CV will be. This ongoing process helps ensure they are well-prepared for interviews and future career opportunities.

Spring Term

  • Follow-up careers interviews (selected students)

Follow-Up Careers Interviews

Follow-up careers interviews are offered to students who were absent during their initial appointment or who may benefit from additional support and guidance. Every student is guaranteed at least one careers guidance interview, but they may be offered a second, or can request one if they feel they would benefit from further advice.

These interviews are an important part of our careers programme, helping students explore their options and make informed decisions about their future.

  • Pathways Event

This exciting event, similar to a Careers Fair, brings together a wide range of local employers and businesses who visit the school to showcase their industries and career opportunities. Students have the chance to engage directly with professionals, explore different career pathways, and ask questions about roles, qualifications, and future prospects.

Representatives from the Emergency Services also attend, offering insights into their work and the entry requirements for joining their teams.

The event takes place during the school day, and all year groups will have the opportunity to attend and benefit from this valuable experience.
