Sixth Form Celebration

Sixth Form Celebration

Sixth form students are celebrating at Felpham Community College following another very good year of summer results; the school improved on its A level results average with more students achieving the top grades of A and A*.

Overall, students achieved 97% pass rate in A levels and 100% pass rate in vocational courses, with 48% at A*- B and 72% A-C, including A-level and BTEC grades. These results ensure that many students can now take their preferred post-18 pathway with high numbers continuing their education at university. The large sixth form, ably supported by their specialist teachers and the school’s Governors, have been rewarded for their hard work and commitment.

Zoe Brixey, Head of Sixth Form, said, ‘We are delighted that more students have achieved the top grades of A and A* and that nearly half the students have achieved A*-B grades which means that they will now be able to take up their places at university. We have created an atmosphere in the sixth form centre where students work hard and staff know every student so they are able to support and encourage them to reach their potential’.

There were good results across the whole curriculum with particular strength in Maths (71% A*-B), Further Maths (80% A*-B), Computer Science (75% A*-B), Business Studies (64% A*-B) and EPQ (67% A*-B). Vocational subjects did extremely well achieving a 100% pass rate. There were some exceptional results in Music (100% D*-D), Business Studies (90% D*-D), Health and Social Care (75% D*-D), Sport (90% D*-D) with many students achieving the achieving the highest Distinction levels

The success of the students was down to their hard work and determination, the first class teaching and the excellent leadership of the 6th form. We are proud of each and every one of our students and wish them well for the future.’
