On the 21st January, Felpham Community College hosted their annual Careers Carousel for year 9 students.
14 volunteers, from local businesses, came into school for the morning to answer questions about the route they took for their career, and the job they now do. The speakers rotated around small groups of year 9 students, so that there was maximum opportunity for students to ask questions. There was a wide range careers being showcased – including a solicitor, coroner, hotel manager, ice cream entrepreneur, and even our Felpham Parish Priest.
We would like to give a huge thank you to the volunteers who supported this event:
Georgia Alston, Pinks Ice Creams
John Chalis, Felpham Parish Council
Christina Lyne, School of Reflexology
Emma Biffi and Graham Harmer, West Sussex Fire Brigade
Sam Rose, Ministry of Justice
Simon Brand, ITV Project Manager
Jo Andrews, West Sussex HM Coroner’s office
Sofia Wells, My Sisters House
Emma Bayley, Prestige Nursing
Freddie Lang and Zac Leahy, Rolls Royce
Mathew Field, SMR Solicitors
Piers Vowels, The Grand Hotel Brighton
Sarah Enticott, Facilities Manager, Felpham Community College
Mrs Preissner, Assistant Headteacher commented:
“This is a yearly event we do at FCC. We host it for year 9, as it links well with students thinking about what GCSE options they would like to take. It was great to walk round and see students interacting with our guests and asking some really interesting questions. A number of the volunteers are ex-FCC students, so it was fantastic to have them back and learn about their career paths since school. Thank you to everyone who came in, and well done to our students for taking part with the event so professionally.”
