Year 11 students at Felpham Community College are proudly celebrating their achievements in GCSE and BTEC subjects this year. ‘We are so pleased to celebrate the achievements of our young people today. Obtaining good results takes a great deal of effort, and students have risen to the challenge.  We are very proud of the resilience they have shown during their time at school and over the stressful exam period.  It is important to remember that their achievements represent years of hard work, determination and perseverance throughout their learning journey by students and the staff that support them, which deserves much recognition.  We would also like to thank our dedicated parents and the school governors for their support and commitment to our school.’

Charity event to celebrate the end of a busy year!

Students and staff at Felpham Community College celebrated the end of a busy and productive school year by hosting a non-school uniform day.

Held on the 23rd July, this was the final event of the schools Summer Term Youth Action Week – raising money for St Wilfrid’s Hospice, Chestnut Tree House, Macmillan Cancer Support and Improving Facilities for students at FCC.

Adam Francis, Head Student Ambassador, commented:
“Youth Action Week was held at the beginning of July and was a really busy and fun week filled with events; such as a week tuck shop, summer fair, sponsored swim, colour run and sponge the teacher. With all the events combined, and the non-uniform day, we are aiming to raise over £4000 which is amazing!”

Felpham 6th Form Celebrates Exam Results with Students

Students at Felpham are proudly celebrating A-level and BTEC results. These results mean that students can now take their preferred post-18 pathway, with a high number continuing their education at university. Students in this year group have experienced significant disruption to their secondary education over the years, but, despite this and as a result of their hard work and commitment, as well as the support they have received from their specialist teachers and the school’s Governors, many have achieved excellent results, particularly in the vocational subjects.

Zoe Brixey, Head of Sixth Form, said:
‘We are extremely proud of how the students have performed and coped with on-going coursework and the stressful exam period. We have been very impressed with the independence and work ethic of the students throughout their time in 6th form, the ethos we have where staff know every student well has helped us to support and encourage them to achieve their best. We also place a great importance on ensuring that our students leave the 6th form ready to progress to university or work, and we have continued to support our students throughout this key period.’

Although many upper sixth students achieved great results, of particular note are:
Emma Barrasford A*AA, Lizzie Brown AAB, Toby Clegg Dis* Dis Dis
Dorothy Gatrell ABB, Marcus Nelmes ABB, Abigail Tester B Dis Dis*
Millie Towse ABBB
Rosie Willmers AB Dis*

Suzanne Pike, Headteacher, commented:
‘We are extremely pleased with the results received by our Sixth Form students, and it is great to see so many of them going on to continue their studies in such a broad range of disciplines. The success of the students was down to their own hard work and determination, supported by the first-class teaching and the excellent leadership of the 6th form team. We are so proud of each and every one of our students, and wish them well as they head into exciting futures.’ Following the results, our FCC students have been accepted to a number of Universities including Exeter, Bournemouth, Sussex, Winchester, Chichester and Brighton. We also have students who are joining the Police, the Navy, starting apprenticeships with Rolls Royce and local company 3DCM, taking gap years and getting stuck into work.

Comments from students:
