Felpham Community College Year 12 Student Experiences Oxford University

Congratulations to Jenny Robson, year 12 student at FCC, who recently spent a week (13-17 July) at the University of Oxford – as part of the prestigious UNIQ programme. The UNIQ programme is Oxford’s outreach initiative designed to give students a taste of university life and academic study.

During her residential stay, Jenny had the opportunity to experience life on campus, staying in Oxford accommodation and immersing herself in the vibrant university community. She took part in a range of academic activities focused on Modern Foreign Languages, gaining a valuable insight into what it is like to study languages at degree level.

Oxford University commented:
“Reflecting on the programme, Jenny told us that that she particularly enjoyed the atmosphere of university life and the opportunity to learn from leading experts in the field. The experience has given her a real insight into studying at Oxford and has encouraged her to seriously consider Oxford university as one of her options for higher education. Congratulations to Jenny on this fantastic achievement. We look forward to seeing where your passion for languages takes you in the future.”

Jenny commented:
“One of the highlights of the week was attending a series of lectures on French literature, which I found both challenging and inspiring. The experience has allowed me to explore the subject in much greater depth and I really enjoyed the week – especially the discussions with the other students I met and the lecturers.”

Alice in Wonderland!

The Felpham Community College extra-curricular performing arts group took to the stage on Wednesday 15th July showcasing Alice in Wonderland – the performance they have been working on since Christmas.

The group is made up of over 20 students from years 7-10 who learnt the Junior Disney version of Alice.

Miss Coney, Curriculum Leader Performing Arts, commented:
“The group have been working incredibly hard (at least twice a week after school) on their performance, and have put in huge amounts of time and effort into perfecting their show. They performed to a packed audience who thought they were great. It has been fantastic working with the students on this project – I am really proud of all of them”

Youth Action Week

Youth Action Week at Felpham Community College was back for another popular year! Running from the 6th to 10th July, it was a fantastic week of activities for students. A chance to fundraise and have fun at the (nearly!) end of a busy year.

It was an action-packed week of events, including a Summer Fete, Sponge the Teacher, a Sponsored Swim, Football Tournaments for years 7,8,9 and10 and a Colour Run. There was also a charity tuck shop running every day at both break and lunch selling a wide variety of treats – including selling over 500 ice pops and 900 bags of pick and mix. We also had the Sixth Form having different dress up days, including an animal themed Wednesday!

Students voted back in September for what charities they wished to support with all fundraising events running across the year. For 2025/2026, the following charities were chosen:

  • Cancerwise
  • St Wilfrid’s Hospice
  • MS Society
  • Sage House Dementia Support
  • Improving Facilities for Students at FCC

All events were supported by the Sixth Form Charity Committee who help organise and run charity events at FCC throughout the academic year.

Jenny Robson, Student Leadership in charge of charity commented:
“It has been such a busy week; and it has been great to see so many people supporting us with the events. Our Summer Fete was great fun and had a variety of stalls including Crepes and Nachos, a Grown-up Lucky Dip, Hook A Duck, Human Fruit Machine and a Penalty Shoot Out. The teachers who did Sponge the Teacher were fantastic as they got soaked – with some students even paying for a whole bucket to throw instead of a sponge! We had over 90 students take part in the football tournaments which was excellent, especially considering how hot it has been this week.

We have had sponsorship for Youth Action Week this year which has been fantastic as has helped fund all the prizes and stock for the events – so that the money we have raised can go straight to the charities. A huge thank you to our Sponsors – Pinks, Stir, Henry Adams, Indy Interiors, STS Communications, Empire Services, Falcon Homes, Sussex Heating Group, Hawkins and Hounds Dog Groomers, MGS Contractors.”

Felpham Community College Year 11 Prom – WOW: What A FABULOUS Evening!

On Friday 26th June, Felpham Community College hosted their Year 11 Prom at Avisford Park Hotel. It was a fantastic, glamorous evening celebrating life at FCC.

Arriving in a variety of fabulous and show-stopping vehicles, to a cheering audience and red-carpet entrance, it was a perfect opportunity for students to feel like celebrities.

After all the hard work with GCSEs, it was an event filled with good food, dancing, year group awards, photo opportunities, laughter and reminiscing.

The Year 11 Pastoral Team commented:
“Thank you to our year 11 students for such a lovely evening, and to their families for their fabulous support outside waving everyone in! Year 11 have dug deep since September with excellent attendance in school and at revision sessions (including weekends and school holidays!) and 4 sets of exams – 3 sets of mocks and then the 2-month GCSE period. We are really proud of each and every one of them and we hope they enjoyed the event. We now wish them a fantastic summer and look forward to seeing them back for results day in August!”
