Pre-Love Uniform Sale – Thursday 17^th October
8-9.30am – FCC Library

This event is open to parents/carers of current FCC students and students (students can attend 8-8.30)  

We have a good stock of trousers, blouses, skirts, coats. Limited stock of PE kit, trainers, football boots, school shoes, blazers and skirts.

Minimum donations required per item – we accept cash or card payment

PE branded items – £2
Trainers / school shoes / football boots / coats – £2
Blouses / Shirts / Trousers – £1

This is a non-profit service we offer which runs on donations. All proceeds go to the running costs of the events.

Felpham Community College held their annual Youth Action Week back in the Summer Term, raising money for St Wilfrid’s Hospice, Chestnut Tree House, Macmillan Cancer Support and Improving Facilities for Students at FCC.

The week included numerous fundraising activities; including a Summer Fair, Sponge the Teacher, Sponsored Swim, hugely busy and popular Tuck Shop, a Non-Uniform Day and a Colour Run.

On Wednesday 2^nd October, FCC held the cheque presentation ceremony, to give the charities their cheques and to celebrate the money raised.

Mr Summers, Assistant Headteacher commented:
“We raised over £3300 just in this one week alone which is a fantastic achievement. Thank you to all the students and their families for supporting all the activities, it was a great fun week to end the academic year. It was also brilliant that we raised so much money!”

Imogen Orde, Head of Charity from the Sixth Form Leadership Team commented:
“We invited the students to the cheque presentation ceremony who put in lots of efforts with the fundraising – some of them raised over £100 each with their sponsored swim which was incredible. Thank you to Holly from St Wilfird’s and Alice Jalley from Chestnut Tree House who attended the event, collected the cheques and also spoke about what the money will go towards.  Our sixth form charity committee helped organise the week and all the students and staff voted for what charities to support so overall, it was a great FCC school community effort!”

Felpham Community College has been recognised for their commitment to encouraging gender inclusion in Computer Science by the National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE).

FCC has completed the national ‘I Belong: Encouraging girls into Computer Science’ programme, demonstrating a commitment to encouraging girls into Computer Science and improving the gender balance within the subject. The ‘I Belong’ certificate is awarded by the NCCE, a leading body for computing education in England.

Felpham Community College has successfully completed all aspects of the programme to achieve the ‘I Belong’ programme certificate. The evidence-informed programme signposts to a range of activities and approaches most likely to support girls’ engagement with the subject.

“We are extremely proud of our Computer Science provision, and how it is now nationally recognised in the way that it addresses our core values of Achievement, Care and Equity through creating pathways for young women wanting to explore this critical field. Our thanks go to the staff and students who have made this possible, and we look forward to a bright future with continued diversity in STEM.”

“I am proud to say that Felpham values diversity in its curriculums and empowers girls to choose Computer Science as an option supporting women in STEM both in school and beyond. “

Katherine Ellis, Gender Inclusion Lead at the NCCE commented:
“Congratulations to FCC on this accomplishment! Schools play a crucial part in addressing the gender gap in computer science education and related careers. This school is among others leading the way in understanding the issue and creating change at a local level. This certificate recognises the efforts the school has gone to, to support and empower all students, especially girls, in choosing this path.”

Established in 2018 and funded by the Department for Education, the NCCE has been instrumental in advancing computing education across schools in England, providing professional development courses, resources, and guidance to enhance teaching and learning.

As the local hub for Brighton and Sussex medical school, we invite any year 10 from local schools, who may be interested in studying medicine, to come to our first session on Wednesday 16^th October 2024.  This will be a session about pathogens where the students will get an opportunity to design their own pathogen and compete against other teams.

Year 11 students at Felpham Community College are proudly celebrating their achievements in GCSE and BTEC subjects this year. Despite starting their secondary education in the year that Covid struck, and therefore suffering significant disruption to their education, they have been rewarded for their hard work and commitment by achieving results that ensure that many of them can now move onto their chosen post-16 pathway.

Many students exceeded expectations, with some achieving exceptional results, including:-

Suzanne Pike, Headteacher, commented:
‘We are so pleased to celebrate the achievements of our young people today. Obtaining good results takes a great deal of effort, and students have risen to the challenge.  We are very proud of the resilience they have shown during their time at school and over the stressful exam period.  It is important to remember that their achievements represent years of hard work, determination and perseverance throughout their learning journey by students and the staff that support them, which deserves much recognition.  We would also like to thank our dedicated parents and the school governors for their support and commitment to our school.’

Comments from students:
Sam – “I worked really hard for the exams and was really pleased with my results. I am staying on for FCC sixth form and am studying Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Computer Science. I got 9 grade 9s and 1 grade 7 – my family are going to be happy with me!”
Elisa – “I completed 12 GCSEs as I did both French and Spanish, Further Maths as well as Maths, and also Triple Science. I am really happy with what I achieved which included 1 grade 9 and 3 grade  8s.”
Fin – “I am really happy with my English grades as I was predicted to get 2 grade 4,s but I worked really hard after my mocks and it paid off – I got a 6 in English Literature and a 5 in English Language!”
Adri – “I am so happy – I got a 6 in Maths! This means I can now do Physics in the Sixth Form along with RE and Biology. I was pleased with all my grades – I got 2 grade 9s and 4 grade 8s, a 7 and a 6 – so happy! I am definitely celebrating with my family tonight”

The students’ results provide them with an opportunity to access our Sixth Form and provide a firm foundation for university or work in the future.

Students and staff at Felpham Community College celebrated the end of a busy and productive school year by hosting a non-school uniform day.

Held on the 23^rd July, this was the final event of the schools Summer Term Youth Action Week – raising money for St Wilfrid’s Hospice, Chestnut Tree House, Macmillan Cancer Support and Improving Facilities for students at FCC.

“Youth Action Week was held at the beginning of July and was a really busy and fun week filled with events; such as a week tuck shop, summer fair, sponsored swim, colour run and sponge the teacher. With all the events combined, and the non-uniform day, we are aiming to raise over £4000 which is amazing!”
